Twinning program with France

L’ABV7 has been chosen among 40 watersheds in Québec to participate at a twinning program with the Public territorial basin establishment (EPTB) Seine Grands Lacs in France. This program is an initiative of the North American Network of Basin Organizations (NANBO) and the Québec Network of Watershed Organizations (ROBVQ).

Mrs Nicole DeRosches, president and Mr Giorgio Vecco, chief executive officer, will be in Paris, France next February from the 17th to the 21st to exchange, understand and see the reality of respective watersheds. Having almost same surface areas, but with hundreds of employee more than us, it will be very interesting to get inspired and bring back new ideas for projects such as the Brasserie stream in Gatineau, Québec.

According to Mrs DesRoches: “ This exchange turns out to be very interesting especially as the City of Gatineau expect major investments to redevelop the Brasserie stream and the Ottawa river (old Domtar site) and because water policy in Québec has been inspired by the french model”.

In addition, we will have the opportunity to welcome two visitors from EPTB Seine Grands Lacs in October 2014 to show them our beautiful region and the territory that ABV des 7 covers. Finally, a last visit in Europe will take place in 2015. The NANBO will fund partly this twinning program, but we will be looking for sponsorships to help us receive them during their visit in Outaouais.
